Update: What sleep? (2025.04.04)

This week was a mouthful, which, I guess, goes some way to explain why I'm very late with the update. Work went completely off the rails, and I found myself booked 200% throughout the week. On top of that, your youngest got sick right up to an already very busy weekend.

So, yeah, I'm kind of burned out.

In many ways, though, it was also a good. Lots of quality time with friends and family in the weekend, and before work went crazy, I actually did most of what I set out to achieve in regards to my writing done.


Writing Goals

*Boxcheck* Write every day: It was mostly writing exercises, but I also managed to complete some long overdue edits on a short story.

*Box* Do reading/analysis exercises for my DIY MFA-thingy: This one definitely suffered from work taking up too much time.

*Boxcheck* Do a WYRM review: I had kind of hope I would do at least two reviews, but the goal was just one, and the week being what it was, I'm glad that I did that one review.

*Boxcheck* Read short stories: I didn't get around to reading any stories, but I spent the commute listening to Uncanny magazine and Podcastle.


Writing Related (sort of) Goals

*Boxcheck* Get exercise: I was off to flying start and got exercise the first three days of the week. It went downhill from there, but it was still acceptable.

*Boxcheck* Eat healthy: First time in a long while I achieved this goal. I really hadn't expected that, since I tend to snack a lot when I have too much work.

*Boxcheck* / *Box* Be active on Codex: Hmm... Yeah, well sort of. I did check up with Codex, but I couldn't participate in the Tuesday lunch, and there weren't any discussion I wanted to participate in.

*Boxcheck* Do vocal exercises: I just managed the minimum bar of once a day, but that's okay since I'm often going way above the minimum on this one.
