I prefer the second. The problem I have found with the "personal" stories is that around 50% of the time later on there is something dark that the news media feels they need to share to dump on the good news.
I like good news where a scientist finds a new vaccine, an astronomer has found new planets or moons, animal refuges have been set up, some anonymous person has fixed something, a group of people have come together to make a change...
I used to see sport as good news, even when my team lost, but considering the behaviours of too many sports people, even that has lost its lustre.
I catch up on news 2, maybe 3, times a week. Negativity - and it seems it is all negative - is doing my mental health in.
