I definitely play/have played plenty of games but I tend to go back to the things (specific games or genres) I liked when I was younger which may be why I have a hard time getting into stuff that has its roots more in PC gaming like strategy or WRPGs. Currently I'm playing the Suikoden I and II remasters that just came out. They're good games (although Suikoden I is very clunky) and Suikoden II especially has a very good story. I enjoy the whole "fantasy as a war epic" style of the games where you're fighting armies and generals to save a state instead of fighting gods to save the world and the constant themes of loyalty, obligation and sacrifice.
The only JRPGs I've played that really capture the same feeling are Yasumi Matsuno's (Ogre Battle, Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII).
