I totally agree, which is one reason I never return to it unless I am commissioned to. I'm sorely tempted to move some of the chapters to the Non-Canonical Interactive.
It's a frustration to me, because I really like Laurent and his gang of "sports clowns." Which is the reason I let myself be commissioned to write in that area.
