Update: Stumbling past the finish line (2024.12.06)
by Tobber Author IconMail Icon
Well, stumbling somewhere near the finish line more like it.

As has become habit, I am late with the update. Once again, though, it was because I hoped I could include the weekend to reach more of my goals, which, I sort of managed.

Writing related goals

*BoxCheck* Write/outline/edit every day: Check. I even managed to write both Saturday and Sunday as well, which is rarely the case.

*BoxCheck* Edit "In the Darkest of Space...": I got that done, and it's ready for WYRM feedback once I have more stories ready to upload.

*Box* Do a review: I had not expected to miss this one, but a sick child at the end of the week took away quite a lot of time and energy. I do have half a review ready, though, so hopefully I can do the rest of it today.

*BoxCheck* Be active on Codex: I didn't manage to update my author thread or participate much in discussions. Though, I did catch up on relevant discussions, which was my minimum requirement for myself, and I did post in two different threads. So, yeah. Goal achieved.

*BoxCheck* Submit stories: Yes! Finally! I've had two stories waiting in the box for far too long. I got both of them send out plus the entry for the Stupefying Stories contest (see below).

*BoxCheck* Write a piece for the Stupefying Stories competition: Check. And I'm very happy about this. I was far down the list but actually a pretty important goal for me. The contest has just been reviewed and counts for 3/4 of my publications this year, so I didn't want to miss another chance. I got the story written and send off. I even got feedback from the editor the same day, and I think I managed to implement it quite well, giving me a better shot at wining one of the prizes.

Other goals which may be vaguely related to writing

*BoxCheck* / *Box* Do vocal exercises: Well, I didn't manage to do them nearly every day. I knew that wouldn't be the case. But again, sick child meant missing the last couple of days completely, which I hadn't counted on. Still, with what time I had, I'm happy with the amount of exercises I did.

*BoxCheck* / *Box* Get exercise: Same thing here. I did manage to get one proper run and an exercise session in, plus making sure I was moving a bit at work. But sick child meant I didn't get any exercise the last couple of weekdays and the weekend.

*BoxCheck* / *Box* Eat healthier: I'm pretty far from doing as well with this goal as I would've liked to, but then again, I did do pretty well this week all things considered. Definitely far better than last week, that's for sure.

*BoxCheck* Continue work for our local SF&F con: Yes! I finally got around to preparing stuff for a panel I have been delaying for too long. There was a small hiccup, but I can finally say I've done everything I needed to do for the con for now. *Smile*

Well, this turned out to be a very different kind of week than I thought it would be when I started out. A sick child always throws everything into the air, changing priorities and shifting work time and spare time around. I had not expect to meet every goal to begin with, though, so I'm very happy with where I ended up.
