After the debacle this past year with NaNo, my local region decided to make a complete break from the organization and start our own nonprofit so we could continue to provide the kind of programming we want. And, beyond just the stuff people know (impropriety in the forums and their reprehensible AI stance), the org is in shambles, so the separation made it possible to do what we wanted. It's one of the coolest things I've ever done. Like, I sit on the board of a nonprofit I helped start. Super cool, right?
But, man, does it keep a lady busy! I'm finally only one assignment behind after scrambling to play catch-up the last few days. But between now and NaNo, I have an entire fundraiser to prepare for, social media to work, and schedules to wrangle. There's a part of me that misses the ease of just using October to make stuff up and get ready for midnight on Nov 1st, but this is really super fulfilling!
Also, if you're in the Metro Detroit area, reach out to me! We welcome you to join!
