I can't cite a specific reference, but I believe that when wearing a mind band and mask combo of someone else (probably same for just the band) that it only copies what the person is doing while wearing the mind band. It does not copy the person's mind who is wearing it.

In other words, while Will wears a mask and band of Evie, it only "records" what he did while wearing it. If he does some things that give away who he really is, then someone could figure out who wore it from those memories in the band. It wouldn't copy any of Will's memories before wearing the band.

At lest, that's what I recall, but not sure where that's actually stated.
