I want to base my male characters on those I read within the romance novels. Jude Deveraux has some really protective characters that make you feel safe when you read the relationship between them.
Building characters is something I really need to work on. I don't know how to break down my characters enough to get them in a character sheet. Granted in order to help me describe my characters I use a Writer's Digest Sourcebook, "Building Believable Characters." When it comes to the emotional side of them, I use "The emotion thesauraus" by Angela Ackerman.
With charts, I'm afraid I'm going to forget something on the chart that I've created for the character. OR the character will change what I put in the chart and I'll have to start over. Maybe I'm over thinking things.
