Bandit was conceived when his now deceased papa, a full blooded schnauzer, burrowed under the neighbor's fence and got to their peek-a-poo. The next day I faced an irate neighbor standing on the front porch glowering hatefully my way because our dog got to their Princess. (that was her name) Weeks later Bandit, the runt, was born with four other brothers: Theodore, Smokey, Eduardo and Rocky.

Bandit has since developed a few quirks. I've fixed him a soft window seat so he can guard the neighoborhood and the house. He's white, long haired and looks more like a schnauzer than any of his brothers down the road.

Bandit likes to eat dinner from colorful plastic bowls from Wal-Mart (six for eighty-eight cents.) Each night I put his food in one of the bowls and he carries the bowl to the area of the house he wants to dine. YOu should hear my husband caterwaul when he steps in it--it's canned food, you know.

Bandit sleeps between my husband and myself. Some nights I believe he snores more loudly than my husband.

Last year he was hospitalized with pancreatitus and the vet told us it was possible he wouldn't make it. In fact they kept him in the doggy hospital for a week. We--my husband and I--were literally sick with worry--as bad or worse--than if he were our human child. Bandit. What a dog. *sigh*
