I agree with Zuul, expanding it to say it's the reason why it's on everyone's mind. On one hand, there's no boy that has expressed any romantic interest in Will before he starts using the masks. Sure, there's a romantic branch with Frank and another with Joe, but in both cases it all starts with the use of masks on Will's side, and Will usually adopts a quasi-permanent female identity (Marta et als for Frank, Melody for Joe). Very few girls express a romantic interest on default Will, so it's rare to see he's got some boy admirers. On the other hand, this branch could be an attempt to rectify that, making a big twist. It could be interesting to explore why someone would feel any interest for Will as a person. From those that have shown a genuine interest, Cassie always comes to mind because she's expressed having a secret crush on him - everyone else usually feels some attraction after some maskplay. It's why, at least in this branch, Laura seems like a good front runner for being CM - she's not very well known but knows Will from before, probably alerting him to his hidden depths. That leads to an interesting question. If CM was a boy, who would you think would be interested in Will? Can't be Caleb because he's rather toxic to him at times, can't be Keith since he's got the hots for Cindy (whether being with her or being her), and though Carson and James would prank him, none of them show genuine interest. Judging by the way the story has progressed thus far, there is a case for Jack actually being CM (in the same way a slasher sometimes end up being part of the group being decimated), but there's equally a reason not to. And just as there's a good point for stating whether CM is a boy or a girl, there's an equal argument in stating whether this is a competition between two suitors for his love? Who's to say there's not more than one CM who's interested in Will? |
