A warm welcome to our newbies; come meet new and not-so-new members of Writing.Com! |
Welcome, I am a sci -fi freak. I write it and love reading it. I review all skill levels of writers, I try to offer suggestions to make things better and a lot of commentary on what the piece has made me think and feel. My reviews are almost always positive because I am impressed with anyone who has the guts to put their words out there and it excites me to read something totally new. On suggestions for getting you novel moving, I have a couple. First, an outline or storyboard is a big help. If you can figure out the broad strokes of where you are going and a few of the major scenes that need to happen you are well on your way to getting there. If you get stuck writing check your roadmap and see if it still makes sense with what you have written. An important thing to writing an outline for fiction is knowing your characters ahead of time. Even if you write in your outline that x character does y thing it doesn't matter and will be pretty hard to write if y goes against their makeup. Suggestion two there is an offsite challenge called NanoWrimo every November where the goal is to write a 50k or longer book in thirty days. There is a challenge here in October to prep for nano which is very helpful in getting characters up and running and working out plots and worldbuilding. If you want more info on NanoWrimo check out their site. https://nanowrimo.org/ When you have something written Post a link or email me one and I'll read and review it. To post a link you type {item:xxxxxxx} where the xs equal the number of your item. or if you do a book then you can link entries out of the book by typing "Invalid Entry" } where the xs are the entry number of the chapter or entry. Good luck, have fun, don't stress, it took me twelve years to finish my first book. (After outlining my second one I wrote it in less than a year. ) Gracie Ginger Cuddlebug Supreme #internetfamouspup |
