My son worked at McD during high school. They always over-scheduled and sent people home... which is really weird because doesn't it seem like there is never enough staff??? He stayed for over a year though and seemed to like it well enough. Based on what I know of him, I think it's because he's a clown, won everyone over, and ended up with fluff work. Anyway, now he's a personal trainer for elderly and disabled people, a certified dietitian, and a licensed masseuse. McD might not have prepared him for the real world, but it certainly didn't hold him back.
On the other hand, my husband and I fostered a kid for a year who worked there for only like maybe two months because she couldn't hack it. I dunno if it was her lack of abilities, or because she had a hard time fitting in with people and maybe they pushed her out. I can guarantee McD didn't help her move anywhere in life, but having said that, she put herself through school (a private college even!) and works with special needs children.
