Perhaps your dentist should put in one of those things mine uses - a giant mouth-distorting plastic device. Nothing in my mouth gets beyond it. But all his tools get in.
I agree with Brandiwynš¶ - make a dentist an evil character. Think of how they come into the exam room - garbed in scrubs, face shield and goggles, gloved, and wielding scary, noisy instruments. Then they pull out the 3 foot needle to inject numbing drugs into your body.
My dental group is great. Nowhere near that scary. I actually enjoy going and getting my teeth cleaned. Although I must admit the drilling and filling do make me a bit anxious.
