I tried to write this novel a couple years ago (actually, my previous attempt at doing Prep a few years ago) and it didn't work out. Things were fuzzy, characters weren't deep enough, and frankly, I think I was couching what is an absolutely bonkers idea in a less bonkers story. This year, I wanted to take the training wheels off and get just as weird and, frankly, terrifying as I need to get to make this story work.
And now we come to the first plot day. So... I guess may the odds be ever in my favor, and pray Dionysus doesn't get too far out of my control. Or, rather, Berenice's. My more in-depth research into the Dionysian Mysteries should help, and so should certain political realities in our world right now, which have taught me people really are absolutely, balls-to-the-wall bonkers about some things.
