Megan watched as her roommate, Lilly, pranced and twirled in her pale lavender gown. It had super light tulle that made it look dreamlike as she turned.

“It’s perfect,” Lilly said hugging herself. She practically floated into her room to change. She carefully hung the dress on a hook above her bedroom door and stood there looking at it as if it were her beau.

Every day for a week that dress hung there. Lilly made sure it was perfect. She placed her silver shoes next to it as she awaited the upcoming event. Even when Lilly wasn’t caressing her dress, she always seemed aware of it hanging there.

Megan thought the dress was awful. It was just too much. After all, Lilly wasn’t Cinderella going to the ball.

But this morning Megan just couldn’t resist a small, casual touch as she passed it by. It flowed outward and seemed to touch her back. Megan walked by it again, tilted her head and imagined how it would feel on her body. It seemed to want to be on her. She took it down.

Slipping into its soft folds, her breath quickened as it flowed over her skin. Slowly, she began twirling as the tulle made gentle waves around her. Around and around she turned, closing her eyes reveling in its magnificence. She was startled back to reality when she turned into the silver shoes, knocking them over. Realizing Lilly would be horrified if she knew Megan had the dress on, she quickly stepped out of it and hung it carefully back on its perch, straightening it and picking up the shoes.

When Lilly arrived home, she immediately went over to the dress. Frowning she said, “I have a question.”

Megan’s palms were clammy. Lilly asked, “Silver or lavender manicure?”
