The official Writing.Com Content Rating Support forum: questions, rating adjustments, etc. |
Hi, I've just had the intro of one of my works changed from E to non-E. The given reason is as follows: The word 'Kill' is non-E (in any context) on WDC. I appreciate that you want to make sure there's nothing inappropriate in an E-rated entry, as material with this rating is available to everyone. However, I think in this case context is everything. The title of the work is "My Girdle Is Killing Me". This was an advertising slogan back in the 60s and 70s, relating to the discomfort caused by wearing this garment and extolling the virtues of the Playtex brand. Way back then, it did what would now be called "going viral" and became a bit of a punchline, and is directly relevant to the content of this book. I don't believe for a minute that anyone reading this title is going to think about anyone being literally killed. The content of the book is appropriately rated 18+, but rating this innocuous title as non-E seems unnecessarily dogmatic and it's now preventing me from using your BidClick system. Anyway, it's your site and your call, but I thought I'd make this post just to suggest that, in this case, the application of your one-size-fits-all rule is not really appropriate and to ask for a review of the decision. |
