Happily, I have buddies who write both hopepunk and grimdark. I think the grimdark might just be horror in that case, but it can be done very well.
I've also learned the difference between Space Western (stories with western themes in space) and Science Fiction Western (set in the west with science fiction elements).
There's also about a billion 'punk' genres out there.
Shanachie writes military SFF sometimes and I enjoy that.
Also learned the difference between paranormal romance and urban fantasy this weekend, and it was entirely based on the amount and types of coupling. Really funny but I can't share the quote here.
