The key issue with that bottom section and Interactives is simply the amount of page loads and the vast amount of data for each page load. Interactives, unlike other items, generate a huge amount and a significant majority of server load and site traffic due to the nature -- you're supposed to click, click, click to get through the story. This is in comparison to other items where you're not clicking from page to page as much.

The rate/review section and its associated links generate a ton of transfer data. At the time the "small area click here thing" was implemented it was done so because 99.9% of readers were not using that area when it was shown in full. It was leading to additional server load and data transfer that literally no one was using. That was, however, before the implementation of the dynamic interactive chapter loading, where the page does not refresh each time. It's possible I can bring back the bottom section for paid membership that are using the dynamic loading system where only the next chapter info loads in-line, rather than full page refreshes.


The side menu issue is a bug that hadn't been reported before. I'd note in my test just now that the pop-ups DO open... they're just stuck at the top of the screen, rather than following the menu section down the page. I'll look more into fixing that as soon as possible now that it's been reported.
