Rach, I've read it, too, like two years ago, and felt the same about Libby (it speaks for Niven that she created such a "sticking" character, eh?. I made it close to 170 lbs. (at 5 feet 2) at my worst times after my parents death (four months apart). I not only had excess luggage but even more diabetes and fat liver. A colic of the same shocked me painfully awake (and when that's happening it's rather half past noon for the liver, when you know what I mean.) Today, I weigh between 110 and 120 lbs., diabetes and fat liver are gone, and it was a crapload of work to reverse all that, create a new nutrition or lift my less and less fat butt for going for a two-hour-workout thrice a week. It took me almost 3.5 years to reach that point, by last May. I always lose at betting, but I think the likelihood that I will ever get that sick again is close to naught. Great choice of book. |
