Well, I was going to go to bed like 3 hrs ago and I'm too lazy and tired to reread the instructions to verify, but I think this is supposed to be a story that sets up your plot. In my plot, the farmer has been sleeping around with everyone's wives, then he accidentally dies when the "heroes" are visiting his farm. They're afraid to say anything because the local deputy (also brother-in-law) hates one of them so they pretend to be farmhands and keep making excuses for why the farmer isn't around.
The neighbor figures it out and the sheriff doesn't care, both do nothing because the farmer slept with their wives, so they don't care what, if anything, happened to the farmer. So, my story is (maybe) going to be a sort of romance where the farmer is meeting up with (maybe) the sheriff's wife. So, that sets up that when he dies, the sheriff doesn't care to investigate, despite the deputy's pushing him to.
At least that's what I think we're supposed to be doing...
