Let's face it, we all need this kind of thing now and then to keep us going. |
(This message was edited by pinoy_celt on 12-24-03 @ 5:31 am EST) As Christians, I believe we can agree that pornography is morally wrong. But that means nothing if you’re not walking in God’s power over it, and that’s not easy to do, especially since its influence has rapidly increased within the past few years, at least in the U.S. You can tell just by the movies coming out, and the jokes on some TV and radio shows as being normal if not cool to be addicted to it. Now I know that this all is a no-brainer, knee-jerk reaction from preachers on down concerning today’s society. But we need to go deeper into this issue than just the outward condemnation of it; we need to see exactly where it came from according to God’s Word and then deal with it accordingly. The focus of my next few posts will be on different ways this very powerful spirit manifests itself in people, us included. I will leave no stone unturned. As God’s people, we need to openly discuss not only the obvious aspects of porn, but also very specific problems that can be traced to it, which can be seemingly too shameful to even mention at first. But I believe that most Christians are in a major struggle with this force, a lot of which are either succumbing to or have succumbed to it one way or another. The sooner that Christians as a whole can honestly and freely address this problem, the sooner that God’s healing power can be released into the lives of MANY, MANY people who are hurting or will be hurt due to a mostly secret pornographic lifestyle. As DC Talk put it, “Confession is the road to healing; forgiveness is the Promised Land.” I encourage any of you who either are under the spell of pornography or are simply getting tired of being bombarded with it with KJV James 5:16 (whichever part of this verse applies most to you) “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” Just know that God is good, God is faithful, and God is merciful, and that there is NOTHING, NOTHING that He can’t break or overcome in your life because He is running the show. God wants the best for you. Take care and God bless you abundantly through this message. Works Cited The Holy Bible: King James Version Bible. (Holman Bible Publishers, 2000). "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good, and acceptable, and perfect." -Romans 12:2 |
