I've read a couple of books about astrology since then, and it's a fascinating system with a fascinating history. Though astrology is usually thought of as proto-astronomy, I get the impression it's better understood as an early attempt at a materially grounded theory of psychology. Where today we would ascribe certain personality disorders to, say, too much lead in the environment, in classical times they'd ascribe it to Mars (or something) being in the wrong part of the sky at birth. It also overlaps with economics, climate science, political theory, and other such sciences that try to connect patterns and events in human history to material causes.
It certainly has a more vivid set of personality types than the Myers-Briggs system (which I understand is regarded, psychologically, as about on par with astrology).
