To answer question 2, it was Locke and Key, which is thoroughly worth checking out if you like magical shenanigans: especially the final episode, which is very satisfying and a prime example of playing fair with the audience.
As for the premise I agree, but I hope I’m at least doing something a little new. Although the next chapter is going to get *really* messy as Will realizes the consequences of Shelly not truly understanding the nature of magic - in a way I hope will come as a surprise but doesn’t cheat at all.
