October Novel Prep Challenge

I am not sure if anyone can help me. I am thinking out loud, so to speak. I can't decide who my supporting character should be because I need him to meet my Gypsy gal, Camille right off because she has a task that she must complete to save the earth and he has to help her and eventually they will hook up.

The whole thing is based on the fact that global warming has come and taken its toll and the earth and everything on it has died except in a small town where a man from the former government has self-proclaimed himself King.

I was going to make Seth his son but at this pt. I can't figure out they should meet whether they like each other at first or not. Hmmmm…
