For me personally, anything involving the music wouldn't need to get bogged down in technical stuff. In my opinion it's just another group of people with their own issues and relationships and such, they just happen to be centered around music instead of, I don't know, basketball or something. The group dynamics are what's interesting. I love music myself, listen to so much in just about any genre you can think of. But I can't play an instrument, could never tell you what string is what on a guitar, read music or explain music theory. Honestly being able to invoke the feeling of what's being played or what's happening on the court or whatever is more important than strict accuracy and terminology. In one of the chapters where Will watches Jelena's band play for instance, to me all that was needed was to convey that the music had a sort of dreamy and entrancing quality that grabbed his attention and then placed it squarely on KC. And speaking of basketball, I'll throw in Katy Conlee as underused. I enjoyed the stuff with her and Will and it's something that I'd definitely like to see more of. |
