((If you're reading this and there is no images linked, I am attempting to fix it by editing my post. It is giving my a error when I submit it with the images linked to.) Edit: After 30mins of messing with it, it seems Writing.com doesn't want me linking anything. I finally managed to get it pasted into here.) So, to start with, see the BoM novel cover mock-up I made: #1 imgur.com/xdipSIA.png Context: Recently, I came across something online that I thought was pretty neat. It's website that uses machine learning to combine styles of art and fuse them into a image. Best part? Its free. At least for the basic version. When you use it, there is a turn around time, and it only lets you do so many depending on the server load. Also I think it purposely slows you down to be incentivized to use the payed service it offers. The website is called "Ostagram." So it got me thinking. This would be a real cool tool to make book covers. So I spent the whole day periodically on my phone trying to come up with something cool for BoM. I wanted it to be something similar to Seuzz's icon he uses already for the interactive, so I found some picture of a white mask. I used a phone app I have to add texture to the background of it, for the purpose of adding more texture to the base to better 'merge' with the source art to. A bunch of iterations later, it produced something I was happy with. I think it's pretty awesome something so cool looking took so little effort. Just was A + B = C. Example of sources to outcome. imgur.com/1yLjixu.jpg Wam. Bam. Photoshop some text over it, size it to be similar dimensions to a novel cover. Here are some other examples with different layouts and colour schemes to the one linked above. #2 imgur.com/euOZqbs.png #3 imgur.com/E8dYvsH.png What do you guys think? Should I try a Wandering Stars one? If so, any ideas for an input image? Or, see what you can come up with! |
