What does my self-care ritual look like? My self-care ritual begins in the morning with medication for my thyroid, saying prayers, and chanting the Most Great Name. Sometime, before turning on the computer, I make a carafe of coffee. My first breakfast usually consists of coffee and something sweet, if we have something sweet. What are my coping habits? Prayer and, sometimes, meditation. I also look for something to read. At worst, I play a game of solitaire, which distracts from the Maladaptive Daydreaming, but causes me to waste as much time. What has worked for me? Prayer, meditation, positive affirmations, and reading. My reading consists of the sacred writings, items on writing.com, or magazine/news articles. What hasn't worked for me? Playing solitaire and my negative self-talk, which is different from Maladaptive Daydreaming. How do you get through the day? I have the most difficulty getting through the day when my morning ritual is interrupted. This has occurred often during the month of February. It will continue to occur throughout the next several months because the interruptions will occur four days out of seven. I'll change my morning routine a little be, or go into another room to say my prayers. |
