A month-long novel-planning challenge with prizes galore. |
For the past week, I've been going back and forth with myself on whether I should enter today's story into the contest. Silly Robert. I should have known - write it *first*, then decide. The story I wrote does what it's supposed to do - helps establish the main character and a context for her. It's also not very good, and doesn't reflect the tone I hope to set for the NaNo story. So I'll give this week's judges a little bit of a break. Hopefully the karma will come back to me when I judge next week's entries. I've been here before - one week in, story I'm not entirely happy with, still no overwhelming ideas for the actual NaNo project. Been here before, and quit in abject failure. If I were an upbeat person, I'd take this opportunity to psych myself and the rest of you up. "Keep it up! Don't quit! Only three more weeks!" But I'm not an upbeat person, so the best I can do is promise to *try* to keep working on it. Anyone who quotes Yoda at me for that will face my wrath. Tomorrow's an off day, and I'll probably rant about that, too. |
