A month-long novel-planning challenge with prizes galore. |
Ask yourself what the story IS about, then who is likely to read it. If you are aiming for a different target audience, adjust your story as necessary. BUT - think of your story as a toy box - you can dump the whole thing out and play with all the characters in any way you want to. You can make them do whatever you wish! You are only limited by your imagination. Try this out - open a new document, or notebook, and rewrite the story, and make it as far-fetched and as crazy as possible - completely the opposite of what you've done. This isn't the "safe" story you were writing - you are living on the edge - these characters don't know you are swapping out their love interests for the shy person they barely give a thought about and who's had a crush on them forever. Or, having them get into a car crash and throwing them into the hospital, or hanging to life from the small ledge you had them land on when you tossed them over a cliff - shake up that bag of monkeys and spill it out into the bowl of pancake mix and see what happens. Get funky, go wild - it's our right to as writer's baby! YOU CAN DO IT! |
