Check Item-Level Instructions
I noticed in the Photo Album item, the instructions say:

"To add photos to this photo album, click the Manage link
found in the "Your Item" tools line of this item's header.
The Manage link is also available from your private portfolio."

I don't think this is accurate anymore because the Manage Album link is in the dropdown accessed from the settings gear icon.
