Just a little something to celebrate the respondents of ALL Symposium topics 1 - 39 |
No, not the ending of this little exercise but the ending of a short story, chapter or poem. PatrickB has already made us think about the importance of a great opening hook to our writing. I believe an ending that makes us hurry to the next chapter, plead for a sequel to be written, or makes us continue to ponder the story is just as important. So for Topic 36... I want to see your best ending OR what you think is an especially brilliant ending of someone else's here on WDC. Here's an example (and I had to work hard to find one that sort of hopefully ticked one of the points above and still made sense on its own!): As Justin turned the corner, a black van pulled up at the curb. He watched the men go into the house, then dumped the hammer and switchblade and walked away. It would feel odd to no longer be a twin but he was sure he'd get used to it quickly enough. It's from "Twin" , which I'd written for a short-story horror contest. Deadline All great endings need to be posted in reply to this post by midnight on 1 April WDC time. Rules Don't write something new; use what you have! No more than 100 words, and please post the link so we can read the whole item too. Reward? Why not? For the OPPS-written ending I like the most (standing on its own and as part of its story/chapter/poem) I'll give the new OPPS MB. Yep... it must be your own ending to get the MB. If my favourite belongs to someone else then 5000GPs of Lucky Dice will be coming your way instead, and 2000GPs to the author of your selection. Looking forward to the posts. Os |
