WDC's Longest Running Blog Competition - Hiatus |
Hey guys, let's just all relax. No need for anyone to get bent out of shape; what's done is done and amends have been made and the important thing is that we're all trying to have a good time. ANN Counselor, Lesbian & Happy , I understand your concerns and trust me, I had similar concerns of my own after awhile as well. I turned the reigns of the "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS" over to Brother Nature because I trusted him to run a fair, honest activity that would help raise needed funds for the group, and for that I'm very appreciative because it's not easy running an activity this size. I don't think any of us on either team were prepared for how intense the first competition between teams got as far as the "there's a price on your head" competition, and I don't think anyone expected the stakes to get as high as 100,000 per person. To be honest, I started off the month myself with only 32,000 gift points of my own. Joel did the right thing by shutting the bids down and that portion of the activity down earlier than anticipated, and I'm grateful to everyone who donated so far and took the time to participate. As far as the activity itself so far, I believe it was you Ann who hit me with a 100k bounty. I understand now you're acknowledging that it wasn't right, which I appreciate, but there's no need to get on Joel so hard about it now after the fact that we've all moved on from it, learned from it, and are on to different activities. I trust Joel will continue to keep us engaged throughout the rest of the month, so there's no need to worry Ann. This is an unofficial month in the "30-Day Blogging Challenge ON HIATUS" anyway, and Joel's been doing us a favor by sending out prompts and giving us things to do. He totally didn't have to and I'm very thankful for his help. While we will very likely hopefully not see an occurrence like that of what happened earlier this week, I'd like to think this "won't die out" due to lack of participation...don't forget, today is Valentine's Day, when most people are less likely to be involved with online stuff, and Saturdays themselves are typically slower days in blogging groups...I can state that as a fact, having been involved in them for several years. Weekends are typically slower, and most blogging groups don't even run on Sundays, so there's nothing to worry about in that regard. I think we all just need to step back, take a deep breath, realize we're all in this together to have a good time, and get back to enjoying ourselves and each other. What happened happened and we can't change that, but no one's mad about it (at least not that I know of) and amends have been made. I'm proud of everyone who's been a part of this month so far and especially of the work Joel's done...so far I couldn't ask for anything more. We still have two more weeks to go and I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with creatively to push through until March. So no worries, all is forgiven, we're going forward. I hope this helps to put your mind at ease, Ann. Let's all be good to one another, guys. Even if our competitive spirits overcome our creative juices, we're still people too, so let's respect each other...without the entries and comments and comraderie, we don't have a group. Let's keep this fun and open to everyone. Thanks. -Norb |
