I'm such a historian. For me, I like things to be well-researched and to follow the lore/written sources as much as possible. Even when I interpret them, I try to make it work.
Like...the show Sleepy Hollow. This week's episode has one of Judas' thirty pieces of silver poisoning Benedict Arnold's mind and causing his betrayal in the Revolutionary War. And that really explains why the man turned so suddenly. It basically used his feelings of being unappreciated and whatnot and warped them. I thought it was really clever!
