* he used to be wealthy, but his wealth was taken away or lost to him somehow; he's tasted poverty, so he hoards money when he regains the ability to acquire it and vows to have more money than anyone in the world so nobody has the power to take his money from him again * someone wealthy took advantage of his poor family when he was young, and he vows never to let it happen again by becoming the wealthiest man alive * his mommy / daddy / grandpa / girlfriend who dumped him in 11th grade / someone whose opinion matters said he would never amount to anything / told him he wasn't special, said that he was just a nobody * he was brutally bullied as a child, but he's been moderately successful as an adult and discovered that money buys power, and power lets you be the bully-er instead of the bully-ee, so he figures that if he's the richest man alive, *nobody* can bully him * an altruistic version: he grew up in poverty but hit it big with the lottery / invention of Silly Bandz, and once he's experienced the ability to help his family, friends and neighbors out of their poverty, he's driven to do the same for anyone living in poverty across the globe Regards, Michelle |
