I agree, because sometimes you've already made decisions, and somehow, the decisions don't quite jive. I've found that this forces some of the best creativity. How is X possible if Y seemingly conflicts with it? You might be surprised at the number of possibilities - obscure, maybe; unlikely, maybe - but how many things in our own lives are obscure and unlikely and rub against the status quo?
