Daily Flash Fiction Challenge

Rosemary, Robert, Susan, Orlando, and Keith are standing by Keith’s locker talking about their day ahead of them.

“I’m not ready for the math test,” Susan said.

“I heard a rumor that it’s supposed to be one of the hardest tests since we’ve started high school,” Keith said.

“You guys will be ok,” Rosemary said as the bell rang and they all walked to homeroom.

It is now time for math and the five friends and other students sit at their desks.

Mrs. Smith said, “Put everything away except for a number two pencil and a blank piece of paper.”

All of the students put their stuff underneath their desks. Mrs. Smith started to write some problems on the board.

Twenty minutes later Rosemary is done with the test and she walked up to Mrs. Smith’s desk. She put her test in front of Mrs. Smith.

“Are you done already?” Mrs. Smith asked.

“Yes, it was too easy,” Rosemary replied.

“Let me get my red pen,” Mrs. Smith said as she took out her red pen.

“Are you going to grade it now?” Rosemary asked.

“Yes. The first question you answered correctly. Let’s see about the other questions,” Mrs. Smith said.

“How did I do?” Rosemary said.

“You got one wrong,” Mrs. Smith replied.

“Oh,” Rosemary said.

“You still passed,” Mrs. Smith said.

“Is it the one where you have to make up your own story problem?” Rosemary asked.

“Yes,” Mrs. Smith replied.

“I still passed,” Rosemary said as she walked back to her desk.

At the end of the day the four friends headed toward home.

“I can’t believe I got one wrong,” Rosemary said.

“Don’t worry about it. Let’s get some ice cream and you’ll be ok,” Orlando said.

The four friends headed toward the ice cream store.
