Father’s Day had always been difficult for Jasper Jacks since his father’s murder when he was at the tender age of ten. He often recalled the time with her father, but nothing would come to mind like the time he spent with his dad at the old preservation of Plants' farm. His father loved plants of all kinds, and in time taught Jasper how to tell the distinct differences of hydrangeas from hibiscus. It was fifteen years since his father's death, but with today being father’s day, and him remembering his time with his dad, he decided to visit the farm. The first time he was taken to the plant farm his dad told him that the connecting glass tunnels were special. “You see son; these tunnels are made from a special type of glass. They take in light just like the plants, but unlike regular glass, they also take in sound, mostly for the nurturing of the plants.” His father explained, as they walked through the yellowed tinted tunnel that connected the rose habitat to the moon lilies. Jasper stopped going to the farm after his father’s death, so he didn’t know it had been closed down. When he pulled up in front of the building, his heart sank. The land that all the plants had been growing on had been abandoned. He got out of his car to find weeds had pretty much taken the place over. All the exotic plants were gone. He worked his way into the building to find the tunnels still there, but instead of growing plants it grew weeds. He stood there feeling as if he somehow let his father down when he heard talking. |
