Dear American Trooper, My name is Dempsey C. Oliver, I do plumbing and heating Up here in Maine and I enjoy doing the grunt work. digging the trenches for piping, drilling holes in peoples brand new floors. I'll be signing up in either the Air force or Army sometime in the next couple years. I wanted to get a few years of experience working in the plumbing and heating buisness first before I went off and joined the millitary. And this way I can pay my way through college. The other day I joined the Brewer High school Jrotc unit in a flag retiring. It was really emotional I stood there with the American flag freshly dipped in kerosene and I hesitated because I couldn't drop the flag into the flames. It was too much of a symbol to me. I had a hard time letting go of that flag soaked in kerosene the pungent scent wafting up to me. I did what I was told not to do In Jrotc. I dropped the flag, Every part of me screamed not to let go but I did. I dropped 5 flags into the flames and I couldn't stand it. I am proud of what you do and what you stand for. Thank you for defending our country, for putting yourself in harms way to protect all of us here in the states. Thank you. Sincerly, Dempsey C. Oliver |
