You've been transported to Europe, ca 1000 AD. Can you survive, or better yet, thrive?

I would get dropped off in England for the language reasons. I would regret not taking Latin further at school because it would have allowed me a much wider choice. Not sure I could last a cold winter without insulated accommodation or modern day clothing.
By going back in time I am in possession of two powerful commodities, knowledge of things unknown to people at the time and the power of knowing certain events that would happen at the time. My inability to invent something astonishing would perhaps be a poor reflection on what I have seen in the modern world but with my hazy recollection of dates I would know that in 1054 The Great Schism happened and in 1066 The Battle of Hastings. I think in a time like this a good way of getting yourself killed would be to start predicting the future or doing anything too out of ordinary as the Medieval church would take any opportunity to burn Heretics.
As a result I would imply the modern day ideology of business in creating some kind of medieval capitalism into a very backwards world. I think I would start by introducing the 54 deck of cards and the social games that come with it. Quickly I'd start teaching poker until I got the King and high society interested. With the Kings ear I would bring up an idea of creating organised gambling as a new way for him to levy taxes, basically a casino where I would offer Roulette, blackjack etc. With his backing I would take the idea to the continent and from this foundation would have the finances to launch other business ventures. Eventually I would have enough financial power and a title that I could start looking to lockdown some territory and purchase a good army, keeping relations good and forming important alliances. One of my most notable creations would be the game of soccer where the rules would be consistent with modern day ones. I'd be the best player of course. Then i'd invent golf and retire.
