Hello DAVE! Just waltzing ... uh surfing everywhere for various stuff since my v10 hold up here. Only caught your post today and glad I did. The former surf reveals so much. While did see on my ISP's @ a spot titled a "webtv. forum" that there were six million webtv boxes sold. We-uns have what one might dub lower powered browsers. Now, the thing that happened to me re: short stories jumping out to novel or novella stats came to pass in 2007. GINGER RIDES AGAIN: HOLLYWOOD & VINE c-rt 2005/6/7 came in originally @ less than 3,500 words. This expanded to include more plot twists. Then GINGER reached four chapters. It did not work as a novel. My hopes were dashed. The end changed and the second version, I liked better since Ginger Del Morrow was a bit of a costume freak --- able to change appearances --- like from fat to soundly sexy. Sure, "GINGER" was hailed by my publisher at the time, put online for nearly five months but never made one dime. Then that person shut down. Expanding a short story to a novel is tough work. I kept doing all this c&p forever. Gave me a major headache from hell, sure did! YET --- yes, it is possible. One probably must be ready for re-writes and able to adapt for the long run.
