You can download the Kindle for PC application for free from Amazon (just Google "Kindle for PC", first link). Once you have it installed and up and running, hunt through the free offerings on the application. A lot of the first results will be romance books and chapters, scoot on past those. Towards the back, you'll start hitting short stories written by new and under-the-radar authors, or people who have entered contests sponsored by Amazon that haven't been published yet. Most of them are very short, and, if I remember correctly, you could probably knock out a dozen in a day if you're feeling particularly voracious. It's a cool way to run into names that otherwise probably wouldn't make it on a Borders shelf.
Mind you, they're kind of hidden, so you'll have to do a lot of clicking right to get back to them.
