Yes, sorry, that is why I tried futilely at first to make it a discussion between ToE and something other than faith. But at some point it is not just faith that relies on what we just know deep down to be right. philosophy does as well. Even as archweasel puts it, as a society we just know that it is wrong to kill, there is no ultimate justification. Yes, it is just how we best survive but it must also be manifest physically somehow in our brains because occasionally it fails and we get serial killers. I don't think that these basic human rights are learned responses to our environment, and if they are indeed intrinsic then every one of us, to an admittedly lesser degree than the faithful, relies on this "deep down I just know" feeling.
I did want to avoid that type of statement though, but it is the truth and I won't be scared of being honest just because it may sound absurd ;)
