I agree that philosophy and science may complement each other, but religion doesnt not equal philosophy. Philosophy is a rational investigation of "truths", while religion is the opposite of that. While religious people tend to express philosophical ideas with a religious tone, they got those ideas not from religion, but from philosophy.
What really distinguish philosophy itself and religion, is that philosophy is not faith-based. And I see that you have stated that faith could actually be beneficial in the search for philosophical ideas, and I would challenge that. And for my challenge, I ask you this simple question, what is/was a philosophical idea that could only be thought of by a religion man?
