Hello all of WDC. I'm Chad and I've never written anything. I tend to start ideas and stop before I get the first sentence out. I often took comfort in merely reading great works. That all stopped when I, (in a mad dash of desperation) realized I was late for work two days ago. I quickly grabbed my gear and rushed off, managing to clock in a mere minute late. To my horror I found that I had forgotten a vital part of my day!!! (shock!) I had just finished reading Kurt Vonnegut's Breakfast of Champions (a simply incredible book) and I found myself LACKING READING MATERIAL!! The whole first half of the day was ruined. When I went to break I sat and stared at a wall. No interesting conversation there. At lunch, dismayed and lacking in food/money I retreated to my car to scrounge for coins and in so doing I found my back up book cache that I keep in the passenger seat of my car for just such an emergency. I dug through countless novels only to find I had used up all my Stephen King! All that was left was my collection of Dean Koontz!!!! Which wouldn't be a problem but even those were slim pickings and I settled on a book I hadn't read yet which was 'Demon Seed'. I don't recommend that book. Two days of utter dismay and disappointment. Upon finishing the flop I decided it best for me to start looking for more books to fill up my cache when I happened to remember this site and I was filled with such righteous indignation! I HAD to try my hand at writing. If books like Demon Seed exist then so shall a Chad Nezzar original! And that brings me to the main reason I'm here. This place offers me a bit of danger. I vow to publicly post my story as its being created. Which is painful for me, my editorial nature can't stand that I would allow myself mistakes (and thats usually the reason I stop writing) but with the advent of a deadline (self imposed) and danger (reader imposed) I hypothesize that this time my attempt at being a writer will stick! Thank you, Have a nice day! Chad Nezzar |
