A sanctuary for weary writers, inky wretches, and aspiring professional novelists. |
For me doing it my way is a case of us all coming at the ultimate goal from our own angles. There is no guide book that says writing is done like this and this is the only way it can be done. We each start wherever we begin and as we grow and learn we develop a style unique to ourselves that works for us but probably wouldn't work for anyone else. When it comes to what to write I believe that if I enjoy writing about it, then someone out there is bound to enjoy reading about it. I don't know if that's ego or just the fact that I've got tastes based in a world I share with other human beings. We all have some things that are similar to others. It's a case of you can't please everyone all of the time. I find it I work on things I love to work on, it might seem wild and zany to me but there will be readers out there who love it as much as I do. Sure, you mightn't hit the best seller list with this approach. But then considering what watered down formulaic works tend to make the best seller list these days it's not a goal I'm personally striving for. I'd rather write what I love, share what I want to share, and touch the people who can connect with that, then write for the majority and not love what I do.
