Everyone has had such wonderful comments to add here and I just wanted to say that I'm with them. We all suffer self-doubt. I've found one of the things that help me is reading published books. I have a few I keep on my shelf. They've been published by respectable traditional publishers and they are shockingly horrid. Truly. I can't get through the first chapter of them they are so badly written and so tripe and rediculous. *grins* It gives me faith that if that stuff can get published I'm pretty much assured of my own limelight.
Yes the evil inner critique/editor gets in the way sometimes. I've found I have to wack him on the head and crank up my mood music another few decibels. Focus on getting the words on the page and forget the rest of the details. If it's terrible I can fix it later. The important thing NOW is to get it written.
