Oh, geez, do I. There are some days that I just feel like burning up all my notebooks and smashing my hard drive.

Look, you don't have to have the whole thing planned out when you start writing. If you hit a block then come back to it later. Most of what I've written has been filed away and left alone because I had no clear idea of where I was going with it, but I have faith that someday I'll make use of it. If I ever feel down then I just think of that story of Thomas Edison, who, when he was having trouble with his light bulb, was asked what failure was like. He responded with something to the effect of, "I haven't failed, I've just found 200 methods that don't work."
