I've often wondered if someone wants a career in writing why they would be so lackadaisical when it comes to spelling and grammar and puncuation. Granted I will not worry about it as much as I'm writing the first draft (my handwritten draft) and start correcting things when I transcribe into the real first draft. But before I let anyone see what I've written I use the spelling/grammer check in Word and also read several times myself to find the errors. I know how easy it is to use the wrong word or to misspell it and have Word change to to another similar word for you.
The teacher in my always wants to take out a nice red pen and show errors when I get somethting at work that lacks total attention to detail. I would probably get fired if I ever did that, but man it would feel nice.
