Huh.

Honestly, my characters ARE my muses. Much like what you describe here, Lori. Otherwise, no muse for me either - not that I know of. Sometimes, it's rather like taking dictation. I read something later and think "I wrote this?? WTF... Cool."

This, however, is sort of my nightmare version of what it must be like to have a muse. And a bitch of an inner critic:

It's unfinished and may well remain so... but it was fun and amusing to write.
