A sanctuary for weary writers, inky wretches, and aspiring professional novelists. |
1) All ratings are anonymous unless accompanied by a review. 2) Only registered members and higher can rate or review. 3) Reviewers have the option to review anonymously; however, The StoryMaster has a log, so they're not anonymous to him. If you receive harassing reviews anonymously, you can report them. 4) The longer you stay on Writing.Com, the more you will come to understand and appreciate the Anonymous option. It is often used for good; my first three month upgrade was given by Anonymous, and I currently have an anonymous "Secret Admirer" who has been doing nice things for me throughout the month, just to brighten my day. In fact, Anonymous here is more often NICE than mean. 5) You may want to send feedback anonymously if it is very critical and you don't know the author. There's just no point in getting into a flamewar or risking someone "hate rating" everything in your port. That said, "hate rating" is a very rare thing here - again, because The StoryMaster logs all activity and can look into any allegations of abuse. That would be considered abusive. 6) You can reply to anonymous reviews; however, if you reply to a reply - you'll give away your identity. 7) You may notice on items that are "Public" that you have a LOT more views than ratings or reviews. This does not mean everyone's clicking away from your item because it's so awful or bland that they don't even want to comment. Remember that guests cannot rate or review, but they can find "Public" items on Google and other search engines. And this is why your referral number may mysteriously increase from time to time. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only **
